Apple introduces a faster method to shut down iPhone with iOS 18

During the June 10 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, Apple debuted the iOS 18 showcase, which included a number of new capabilities for the iPhone, reports gadgets360.com .

The Control Center makeover, which includes a new controls gallery with a lot more possibilities than before, was one of the main attractions.

Moreover, users will have the ability to slide across pages to access other toggles and settings. An easier way to turn off the iPhone is one feature that Apple did not show off but has made its way into iOS 18.

New Power off shortcut on iPhone

The updated Control Center is available in the iOS 18 Developer Beta 1. The ability to quickly turn off the iPhone is one of the noteworthy changes.

The new power button allows you to rapidly turn off the device without having to hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons and then swipe the slider. This shortcut is located in the Control Center in the upper-right corner of the screen, as seen in the image above. Just swipe down to open the Control Center in order to access it.

The slider for turning off the iPhone will appear when you tap the new power button. Staff members at Gadgets 360 were able to install the iOS 18 Developer Beta 1 update and confirm the feature's availability and usage. During the developer event speech, Apple did not promote the several improvements that it had added to the iPhone with the latest update. One such feature is this new shortcut.

 Extended power reserve

An extended power reserve is another feature that Apple is rumored to have brought out but did not disclose. It is said that even when the iPhone runs out of battery for a long time, iOS 18 keeps the time displayed.

A user in the iOSBeta subreddit made the discovery. Additionally, it is reported that a "iPhone is Findable" banner displays at the bottom of the screen, indicating that the Find My feature may function longer with the increased power reserve.
